Project: New Hartford Public Library
Client: New Hartford Public Library Board of Trustees
Location: New Hartford, NY
Cost: $1,300,000
Project Description: The New Hartford Public Library project consists of a new, one story, 10,000 square foot facility.
The library is located in a residential area on a sloped site.
The library's main interior design feature is a barrel vaulted
ceiling & colonnade running the entire length of the building. The barrel vault is highlighted on the exterior with round
top windows at each end. The exterior of the building is finished with a combination of decorative concrete masonry units, brick
& EIFS. The roof is finished with asphalt shingles.
The, in addition to housing stack & reading areas, contains
a staff work room, offices, breakroom, community room and quiet study rooms.
The majority of the parking is behind the library.
The parking lot was held away from the back of the building to allow for a future addition. This space also allowed for a lush
flower garden to be constructed. Along with the many specimen trees & plants, the garden contains a gazebo that coordinates
with the library exterior, fountains, arbors, garden sculptures and ample seating via wood & granite benches.
