Project: Old Forge Public Library Addition & Renovations
Client: Old Forge Public Library
Location: Old Forge, NY
Cost: $402,000
Project Description: The Old Forge Public Library project consists of an addition and renovations to the existing facility.
The library is located in a residential neighborhood and the parking is located behind the building.
The existing library
was originally a private residence and was comprised of small rooms that didn't function well as a library. The existing space
was opened up into a larger open plan making it much more functional.
A two story porte cochere with a porch above was enclosed
to expand the facility. On the first floor an "Adirondack Room" was added to showcase books & art about the region.
On the second floor a more private reading room was created.
The addition to the rear of the building serves as another
entrance and houses a new stair and an elevator to make the second floor handicapped accessible, as well as, provide the required
secondary means of egress from the second floor.
The exterior of the addition is finished in cedar shake shingles to match the
rear of the existing building.
